monday...

Happy Monday!
The Beat the Rush Crop at Pages in Time was a huge success! We had so many GORGEOUS entries in the challenges and a lot of fun chatting and playing games. The winners have been announced, so if you played, check out the Winner's circle thread to see if you won! :)

I completed 8 layouts, counting my 2 samples, one altered item (the pencil holder), and one card (for Karen's grandson). I was very productive this weekend, probably because I haven't srapped in almost a month!
Below are the rest of the layouts that I finished.

This digi was done for Helene's Earthy colors layout Challenge.

I used a large picture of me biking through the Everglades. I just love the background in this picture! All the digi elements and papers were collected over time and I don't know who the belong to anymore. They were all freebies though.

This layout was done for Barbara's Thursday Sketch Challenge, using Alda's sketch for Karen's Thursday Sketch at her blog and Ning community.

The pictures are a little older, from 2008, but are very dear to me. They were taking at Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens when Luis and I took my best friend Hanay and her husband Jochi there. Back then, Luis and I were thinking of getting married there and we wanted them to see it. They absolutely loved it! We walked around the park that's actually 83 acres and hung out there for a while. I even tried 'fishing' a turtle with my bare hands! We had a really good time together.

I tried to capture the beauty of this place by using nature embellies, like the butterflies around the circle and the flowers. I cut the white border on the right with my pazzles. I stickled the flowers and some of the butterflies.

This other layout was done for Jennifer's Monochromatic Challenge.

This is a picture that my husband took of me during our honeymoon. I was just in awe of the vast seas! I handmade the flourishes and cut the title, which I made very subtle, with my Pazzles. I followed Gabrielle's tutorial on how to weave the ribbon though a scalloped paper for that extra softness to the layout. Love how much this adds to the page! Oh, i forgot to mention that I used one of my sketches for this layout. The butterflies I printed and stickled them. They are such a great touch to the page too!

Finally, my last thing to show you today is a card that I made for Karen's grandson, Lennon. Like I said in an earlier post, this little boy is going through chemo right now (for the second time) to help with his brain cancer. Please pray for him and if you can, send him a card. He'll appreciate it!

I made this little monkey with my cricut back when I had it and was waiting for the perfect project to add it to and this was it! The little cap I cut with my pazzles. I also entered this card to Helene's Card/Tag Challenge. What a wonderful idea for a challenge Helene!

Thanks everyone for stopping by and taking a lot at my layouts. I appreciate it! :)

wednesday...

Today, I have some bad news and a few requests.

Karen (the owner of Pages in Time)'s 3 1/2 year old Grandson Lennon has been battling cancerous brain tumors. His first tumor was removed and he went into remission for about 6 months. This week he went for his monthly MRI check and they found 3 tumors. The doctors have given Lennon a 20% chance of survival.

Please join the Design Team at Pages in Time in lifting Lennon's and his family's spirits with Project "Cards For Lennon".

Cards are an amazing way to lift someone's spirit and to let them know that you care about them. Let us show Lennon that we are praying for him! That people do care! And let him have the joy of opening each envelope like it is a present at Christmas time. Imagine the joy, amazement and smile you will bring to a child when he opens each card.

Please send your cards to:

Pages In Time
5221 South 48 Street Suite 8
Lincoln NE 68516

If you can't send a card, pray for this little boy!!! Prayers can move mountains!

sunday...Happy Easter!

May you have a wonderful time with family and friends remembering what Easter is all about. Happy Easter everyone!

Here's a poem that I want to share with you today.

The Easter Story

Jesus came to compensate
For all the wrongs we do.
He came to earth to die for us,
So we’d be born anew.

"This bitter cup, let it pass from me,"
He cried, in a plaintive voice;
"Yet not My will, but Thine be done;"
He said, in His faithful choice.

The Judas kiss would seal his fate;
He faced a hostile crowd;
The governor, Pilate, saw through it all;
Jesus’ guilt he disavowed.

"I wash my hands of all of this,"
Said Pilate, "Let Him be."
But the crowd yelled "Crucify him now,
And set Barabbas free!"

Pilate yielded to their wish;
And Jesus was led away.
The soldiers beat him, and mocked Him, too,
Yet He continued to obey.

A crown of thorns lay on His head,
As His sentence was carried out;
His hands and feet were pierced with nails,
But He did not scream or shout.

"Father, forgive them for this crime;
They know not what they do."
He said this despite His torment, because,
He was thinking of me and you.

"It is finished," he sighed in His anguish and pain,
As His body gave up to death.
The curtain tore, and darkness fell,
After He took His last breath.

The best of the story is the very last part;
It’s why on Easter we’re filled with pleasure:
Death could not our Savior hold;
His power is beyond all measure.

He rose from the grave, and was seen all around;
Ever since, He’s inspired devotion,
And we’ll be with Him for eternity,
When we get our heavenly promotion.

That’s why Easter is a major event:
He suffered and died in our place.
He rose and forgave us and loves us still,
Our Savior of matchless grace.

By Joanna Fuchs

May you have a blessed Easter!

There are also more add on kits on the site. Click on the picture to check them out!

Ok, moving on, this week's sketch by Alda is great! Even though it has been posted for only one day I already finished a layout based on the sketch!

Here's this week's sketch (remember, play along for a chance to win a RAK!)

and here's my take"

and some close ups:

I've been meaning to do a layout like this for a while now and this sketch was great for it. The picture is of my husband, my dog and my shadow as we were going for a walk a few days ago. I titled this layout Shadows of the Future and I have hidden journaling behind the picture. Pulling on the date reveals hidden journaling about my husband and I's current struggles (not marital but debt-wise) which of course, I want to keep hidden.

I distressed ever pattern paper that I used. I used two border punch in this layout, both by Martha Stewart. I handmade the white flourishes, butterflies, and flowers. I used Gabrielle's tutorial to make the paper flowers and I love how they came out. These might be my newest favorite handmade flowers. I cut the title with the Pazzles and used Photoshop to make the hidden tag as well as to alter the picture.
