wednesday...Birds of a Feather Kit CO

Well, my second piece of good scrappy news is that I'm the guest designer for Birds of a Feather Kit for the month of September and I could more exited since their September Kit is to die for!

Here is the Birds of a Feather September Kit:

and here is my first layout with it:

Supplies-
cardstock: Bazzill Pink, Black;
patterned paper: Echo Park Victoria Gardens: “Cheerful Words”, "Garden Trellis", "Garden Pond/Stone Path", "Journaling Cards";
bling: Recollaction (from stash);
embellishment: Melissa Frances "Edwardian Appliqué Set of 4 Mini Frames";
chipboard: American Craft Thickers "Puffy Vinyl Alphas–Rainboots”;
flowers: Petaloo "Color-Me-Crazy Fabric Trims-Cassidy", Recollections (from stash);
pearls: Pink (from stash);
lace: American Craft "Crocheted Lace–Robin’s Egg Blue";
tools (from stash): Pazzles Inspiration, sewing machine;
other: handmade leaves, butterflies, small flowers, liquid pearls
***Everything is included in the Birds of a Feather September Kit unless otherwise noted

For this layout, I combined pattern papers from the main kit and the ad on papers. I matted the 2 rectangles of pattern paper behind the picture with black cardstock to make them stand out against the soft background. The black circle I designed and cut out with my Pazzles Inpsiration from the black cardstock that is included in the kit. I used the circle to 'frame' the picture. I added soft pink pearls to the Petaloo flower to give it some bling. I also handmade the small flowers, leaves and butterflies. I machine stitched all the edges to give it a finished look.

I included one of the journaling cards that I cut out from one of the sheets of pattern papers behind the picture which contains my handwritten hidden journaling.

Below are a few close up of the whole layout:

Thank you for stopping by my blog today and don't forget to check out Birds of a Feather September Kit before they run out! Come back soon because I have a wonderful trash-to-treasure tutorial that you wont want to miss!

monday...a Sketchy Thursday/Birds of a Feather challenge

Hi everyone! I hope that everyone is having a great Monday! Today I want to share a layout that I made last night. I combinedthis week's Sketchy Thursday Sketch with Birds of a Feather's August Color Challenge and came up with this layout:

Photobucket
I used pictures of my kitty Tigger from last year while he was cuddling with me till he figured out that my sweater was also a cat's toy! :)

I used simple embelies for this layout because I wanted the focus to be on the pictures. I double matted (kinda) all the pictures in black and pink and doodled with my white pen all around the edges. I printed out a scanned copy that I had of The Girl's Paperie Cabbage pattern rose paper that i scanned when I first got that paper and shrunk it just a bit so I could print it in a 4x6 photo paper. I then fuzzy cut it and added it to my layout. I finished it off by adding some stickles a a few tiny Prima flowers that I've had in my stash forever. The title I cut out with my Pazzles and the heart, believe or not, is a diecut that I made back when I had my baby Cricut (back in 2008!!!). I just ran it through the cuttlebug with the textile embossing folder and inked the edges.

Here are some close up of my layout:

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! :)

EDIT: This layout was chosen as a favorite and was featured in the Sketchy Thursdays blog! :)

sunday...family pictures

Good morning bloggers! It has been a while since I've blogged but I've been so busy enjoying summer that I have barely had time to scrap! I do have a few good scrappy news coming up but cannot reveal then just yet.

Until then, I'll leave you with a few of my favorite pictures that I took at Disney when my family came up to visit this past week. We had a blast!

Have a fun weekend and an even better week!
