saturday...another handmade doily tutorial

I hope everyone is having agreat weekend! I was playing around with my punches the other day and came up with another handmade doily and today I want to share with you how I made it!

Supplies:
  • cardstock
  • glimmer mist or diluted reinker in a mini mister
  • Prima mask
  • Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page Corner Punch (Wild Flowers)
  • circle cutter
  • decorative scissor (I know you have those!)
  • sewing machine

Step 1. Cut a 10" circle out of cardstock.

Step 2. Place the Prima Mask over it and mist it. I used reinker (Vintage Photo) diluted with water.

Step 3. Turn it around and draw/trace a 7" circle in the center (the crossing lines are to find the center of the circle).

Step 4. Using the corner punch (Wild Flowers), punch around the circle using the pencil mark as your guide.

Step 5. Cut a slightly bigger circle (10.25") out of white cardstock and cut around it with your decorative scissors. Mat the whole thing on the white scallop circle.

Step 6. Machine stitch a zig zag line between the white scallop circle and the pink cardstock. Runs two wavy stitches through the pink circle inside. (I photographed this step on a black background so you can see the scallop border)

Step 7. Lift the punched edges up to give them dimension and VOILA! You now have a very custom made doily to use on your layout!
OPTIONAL: You can add pearls or liquid pearl drops to the punched edges on the flower centers to make them stand out more.

I hope you can try this doily. It gives your layout a lot of dimension! Come back later this week and I'll share with you my finished layout.
