thursday...use your scraps layout (and a challenge)

Welcome back! Today I have another use your scraps layouts! I've been really enjoying making these layouts because my scrap drawers are running out of space and making card s with those scraps wasn't doing much to the drawers as they were still overflowing!

For this layout I decided to work with hexagons since they seem to be a hot trend in the scrapbooking world right now. I had a problem though because I do not have a hexagon punch or die so I went on Google to see how I could make them without purchasing an expensive tools and found THIS amazing tutorial.

Supplies-
cardstock: DCWV;
patterned paper: Bella Blvd Finally Fall At the Patch, Bella Blvd Christmas Wishes Trees for Sale, Echo Park Victoria Gardens Solids Pink Blossom;
letter stickers: Basic Grey Hello Luscious Mini Mono Stickers;
ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain);
pens: Sharpie, Ranger Inkssentials Opaque White;
stamp: Prima Notary Stamp;
tools: Spellbinders Foliage dies, Cuttlebug Leaves die;
other: Sewing machine, flowers from Michaels flower dept

I followed the tutorial idea anyway because I didn't feel like gluing down the pattern papers together plus besides, I had PLENTY of good enough sizes to make each hexagon from a different paper.

I printed my hexagons on white printer paper and adhered 3-6 of then unto different pattern papers. I then hand cut each one of them. It actually wasn't so bad because it was just straight lines. I then lightly distressed the edges with Vintage Photo and added faux stitching around the edges. I added them unto a white, lightly stamped with a script background stamp cardstock because I wanted them to pop.

I used up some silk flowers that I've had forever in my stash. I got them at Michaels' flower dept. a few years back and I still have a few left! I do like them and I thought they went perfectly with this fall layout.

Finally, I made a few fall trees and added them as embellies too. I found something similar on Pinterest some time back and thought I could easily duplicate/make them better by adding stitched lines.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my use your scraps layout! If you make a layout using your stash, share with me here on my blog and enter to win some goodies over at AWDML's blog. You have until the end of the month to enter.
