monday...ScrapThat! August Kit-Layout #1

Happy Monday! I hope that you were able to hop along with the ScrapThat! blog hop this past weekend!
As promised, I'm starting to give more in depth close ups and tips on each of the layouts that I made using the gorgeous August kit "Once Upon a Dream" featuring Kaisercarft Charlotte's Dream Collection!

For the first layout,  I used the Main Kit and the Embellishment Add On. This layout is based on Kaisercraft's Saturday July Sketch #2 and I used a picture of my mom last year. She is not very photogenic so this one is one of the best ones I had of her. :)

I traced the diecut paper that is included in this month's kit unto this pink paper and cut around it to make my own die cut paper. I inked the edges and machine stitched it unto a brown cardstock (from my stash).

I made some roses out of the brown pattern paper and used solid brown cardstock in the center to make it a bi-color rose. I then added some stickles to the edges to make it shine! I used the crochet doilies and white flowers in the kit for my cluster.

I inked up the chipboard frames with Vintage Photo and added them around the picture. I left the wooden butterfly as they were because I love the raw look. I added a small Tim Holtz ticket from my stash.

Here's another look at the second cluster. I used 2 leftover leaves that I had from last month's kit. I also used the pearls included in this kit to add them randomly around my cluster.

Another look at a wooden butterfly. I love all the layers and texture in this layout!

I printed descriptive words about my mom using my printer. I hand stitched around the rectangles and added them to the right side of the picture.

Finally, I made a little banner using the rub-ons, alphas and a piece of hemp cord from my stash. I love how it turned out!

Thank you for stopping by my blog today! I really appreciate you taking your time to comment on my creations! It means a lot to me! :)
