saturday...sharing some OHW cards

Happy long weekend! Hubby and I are just chillin' home this weekend but I'll be taking some time to make some cards for Operation White Home Labor Day Weekend Virtual Card Making Party! Their Christmas and Winter due dates are fast approaching and I haven't started on mine yet!

I played along the Challenge #1, which is to follow a sketch.
Here are 3 cards that I made suing the sketch (which I loved!):

Card #1:

Card #2:

Card #3:

I also played along Challenge #2, which is to use the acronyms OWH and make a card.

O: odd number of embellies (5 rhinestones)
W: white on white, wreath
H: holly berries (all white and tucked in my wreath)

Thanks for stopping by and if you are not doing anything this weekend or you have some free time, consider playing along the OWH Virtual Cardmaking Party! :)

Inside of the card:

This collection is simply amazing and even though it works for both cards and layouts, if you make your own Christmas cards, this set is a must as it allows you to make so many cards at a time!

Here is the step by step write-up for this project:
Start off with the 6”x6” piece of pattern paper from a 12”x12” sheet. Trim your pattern paper to 5.5”x5.5” and die cut a 2.75” circle from it.  Ink the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink and machine stitch all around the edges. Stamp the Merry Christmas sentiment on the left center side of the circle and add two brown ornamental borders to the top and bottom add a white pearl to each of the tips. Cut out a scallop border using scallop scissors and add as a border to the edges of the cut-out circle. Add stickles to this border and set it aside to dry. On a white cardstock, stamp the candle image and die cut and emboss using a Shapeabilities circle. Pop dot the background pattern paper unto a 5.75”x5.75” light blue cardstock to give it some dimension and adhere these layers on a 6”x6” white card base. You can trim a 12”x12” piece of white cardstock in half to get this base. Add the embossed and stamped image to the center of the die cut circle from the base. Add stickles to the image to highlight it. For the poinsettias, stamp and die cut a bunch of different size flowers. Layer them, staggering the petals, to form a full flower. Add a white pearl to its center. Stamp and die cut a few leaves as well and add the leaves and flowers to the bottom of the stamped image. Add stickles to the poinsettias and leaves. On the inside, stamp the sentiment right in the center of the card.

wednesday...Heartfelt Creations

Happy Heartfelt Wednesday! Today I have yet another layout to share with you that I made with the newest Heartfelt Creations Collection-The Christmas Card Collection.

Supplies-
Heartfelt Creations:
HCPC 3415 Petite Poinsettia PreCut Set
HCPC 3551 Holly Berry PreCut Set
HCPC 3554 Love at Christmas PreCut Set
HCPC 3556 Christmas Song PreCut Set
HCD 738 Ornamental Add On Die
HCDP1 236 Christmas Card Paper Collection
452255 Grand Calibur
125156 Layered Poinsettia Shapeabilities
354806 Standard Circle Large

Other:
StazOn Archival Ink (Jet Black), Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Iced Spruce, Vintage Photo), Tim Holtz Blending tool, Rangers Stickles (Diamond), Distrezz it all tool, Recollections White Pearls, Liquid Pearls

The picture is of my hubby and I taken last year on Christmas. I turned the photo black and white but left the ornaments on the tree in color. Our tree was snowy white with silver and blue ornaments.

I love this little bird on the branch! I stamped and fuzzy cut him and added him to the corner of my photo. i also highlighted him with some Diamond stickles for a winter effect.

I used the gorgeous dies in this collection and made a large snowflake (kind of looks like a doily, right?) for my top right corner of the photo. I then added a white poinsettia flower and some new green holly leaves!

With the new stamps is so easy to make your own embellies and saying! I stamped the circle border onto blue pattern paper and then I stamped the sentiment right inside it. I then use my spellbinders nesting circles and cut it and embossed it. I lightly inked the edges and voila! A super simple but elegant sentiment to add to your layouts!

Of course, you know I got to have flowers on my pages! I made a bunch of white poinsettias (inked with Iced Spruce) distress ink and layer them to form thick flowers. I added a large pearl to their center to keep them elegant. I also used a bunch of greenery that I made with the new holly leaves stamps. There are 3 new holly berries leaves stamps in this collection!

Here is a close up of one of my blooms. I also added stickles for a winter feel.

Look at all the dimension that I achieves with this layout! Can you believe that I only used 2 sheets of pattern paper for this layout!?

I have a quick step by step photo tutorial on how I made this layout:

Step 1. Cut one of the sheets that have the 6"x6" papers in fourths and distress all the edges. Cut out a circle out of the first one and stamp your sentiment. You will not use the rest of the light blue sheet (come back next week and I'll show you what i did with this piece of 6"x6" paper!). For the second piece of 6"x6", cut into fourths. For the third piece, cut in half and for the last one cut a shaped die cut 6"x6" paper and then cut in half.

Step 2. Arrange your small layering pieces over your background paper as shown.

Step 3. Your 6"x4" matted photo will cover the space in the center!

Step 4. Arrange your die cuts into a snowflake shape in the top right corner of the photo. Also, add two of the other die cut shares tot he left and right of the photo as a border as shown.

Step 5. Add your sentiment to the left side of the photo and now you are free to add your embellies as you wish.

I hope that you enjoyed this quick tutorial and give it a try! Who said that 6"x6" papers are only for cardmakers!? :)

monday..."Taste of Compassion" Layout

Happy Monday! I have yet another layout to share with you today! This one is my take on Swirlydoos August Sketch Challenge.

and here's the sketch:

For this layout, I used Heartfelt Creations papers and flowers from my stash. I've been trying to use up my old stash so I can get new goodies! :D

These pictures were taken earlier this year at a charity even here in Orlando, FL called Taste of Compassion. I have hidden journaling behind the main picture.

I loved the Prima stamped used on the sketch but since I didn't have it, I ended up cutting it out of black cardstock with my Pazzles Inspiration. I forgot how much I loved this machine! :)

Close up of the small area on the bottom right. I used two small pictures there to balance the left side of the layout.

Here's another view of the flower cluster.

These are the tags behind the main picture. I glues them together and journaled on both of them at the same time :)

Thanks for stopping by! It means a lot to me!

sunday..."So in love with you" Layout

I recently found Scrap Around The World Challenge site and decided to try my hand at this month's sketch and mood board.

I was inspired by the flowers on the cake, the vines on the bottom left corner, lace, bling and heart charm and ended up doing this layout with our wedding pictures. I also loved the sketch and used a total of 4 pictures in a 1 page layout!

I used Maja Designs papers and Heartfelt Creations papers together with Prima vine, Zva Creative flowers and bling and Want 2 Scrap pearls. I used Spellbinders nesting circles and distressed their edges with Tim Holtz distressing tool. This is one of those layouts that just 'finishes' itself as it only took me 40 minutes to complete it!

Here are some close ups:

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today! Have a wonderful week everyone! :)
