In case you didn't know or forgot, today is the first day of the online crop over at A Walk Down Memory Lane! We have challenges, games, and of course, PRIZES!
All the girl from the DT are hosting two challenges and a game, so, to get you interested, I'm posting my challenges here on my blog but you still have to go to the forum, sign up if you haven't already done so, and upload your project into the right gallery.
Challenge #1: Use this sketch as inspiration for your layout! Pretty easy, right?
and here is my sample layout:
Supplies: cardstock: DCWV; patterned paper: Making Memories; chipboard: Thickers; flowers: Recollections; gems: Robin's Nest Dew Drops; ink: Tim Holtz; punch: Martha Stewart; other: buttons
I absolutely LOVE how this layout turned out! I wanted it to look more masculine since the pictures are of my brother-in-law's birthday at a bowling alley and there are 3 boys in the pictures. I water distressed the background and inked the edges to give it a distressed and grudgy feel to the layout. I used cardboard which I inked and distressed to mat the pictures.
I handmade the flowers out of an old pair of jeans that had too many wholes to wear anymore. I also love how these turned out! I also added a blingy flower by Recollections (I couldn't control myself and had to add something girly!).
I needed some bling so I made my own flourish using Robin's Nest Dew Drops, a transparency and Glossy Accents. I also made an arrow pointing at the journaling (to me arrows scream boys). For the first half of the title, I used the tile tutorial that Lisa posted on her blog. For the word game, I used Thickers and having run out of e's, I used the & symbol instead. I actually like it more than with a real e!
Finally, I made my own banner. This is the second time that I use a banner and I must admit that I love using them! I used all scraps for the banner. I distressed the individual pieces, matted them in white and left them pretty simple as I love the patterns on these scraps of papers!
Challenge #2:
AWDML is turning 8 therefore, in their honor, choose 8 items from the list below to complete a layout!
and here is my sample layout:
Supplies: cardstock: Bazzill, DCWV; patterned paper: Doodlebug Designs, Little Yellow Bicycle; chipboard: Colorbok; flowers: Prima; bling: Zva; ink: Tim Holtz; other: handmade flower, pearls from Joann
and from that list I used the following:
tag-I added a hidden tag behind the larger picture with the words remember this... on the tab
ribbon-I added a small piece of sheer white ribbon to the tag
inking-I inked (and distressed!) all of my edges using Tim Holtz paper distressor tool and Vintage Photo ink
new embellie-The Zva flourish is brand new, directly from Lisa's store!
insect-I added a blue butterfly to the top left side of the layout. I stickled her and added a pearl body
glitter-Stickles on the butterfly (above) and on my handmade flower (see below)!
handmade-I handmade the brown and blue flower using my Pazzles. these are my fav flowers to make, especially when I use double sided paper!
title-of course I added a title to my layout! The blue alphas are Colorbok chipboards that I got on sale at Joann and the white alphas are handmade Thickers using my cuttlebug, an alphabet set and white glittery foam from the craft department in Michaels
Thank you for stopping by my blog today. I appreciate it! If you are free this weekend, stop by AWDML and crop with us as we celebrate their 8th birthday!
Awesome sketch and I love the layout you created for it. Wonderful blue jean flowers and nice touch on how you added the bowling pins to them. Your outdoor layout is like going on a nice walk in the park. Just so beautiful....
