friday...ScrapThat! October Kit-Layout #1

Happy Friday! Today, as promised, I'm sharing with you the layout that I made using yesterday's altered flowers. I loved the orange flowers but needed something a bit more neutral to tone them down a bit. You can check out my tutorial HERE on how I altered some of the blooms to match my layout.

Here's my finished layout that I titled "Family"

For this layout, I used the Main Kit and The Embellishment Add On from the ScrapThat! October Kit. I handmade my own butterflies and leaves for this layout.

This layout is based on the Prima September BAP sketch. I rotated the sketch 90 degrees to better fit my picture.

Below are a few close ups of my layout:

You can see the orange flowers with the altered now-brown flowers. I made my own leaves which I stamped, inked and ran through an embossing folder to add some texture to them.

I used some of the wooden pieces as well as the trinkets included in the EAO. I made my own simple but matching  butterflies too.

Finally, I added my title on the top right corner of the layout. I used the stamp included in the kit here as well. I distressed and machine stitched all the layers.

I absolutely love how this layout turned out and it was definitely a bit of a challenge to me to use a neutral (black, grey, cream) palette and a pop of color in the flowers.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! Have a happy Friday!
