friday...ScrapThat! March Kit-Layout #1

Hi everyone! Today I would like to share my take on my own sketch for the ScrapThat! March Kit.

Here's the sketch:

(See details about the challenge here: Sketch Challenges)

and here's my take on it:
I used the Main Kit, The Embellishment Add On and Flower Add On for this layout. The jute and cardboard are from my stash. The dark green leaves and butterflies are all handmade by me.

The picture was taken when hubby and I went hiking with his brother, cousin, and church group back in January. We had such a good time that day!  I wanted this layout to be outdoorsy so I did a lot of distressing and used a brown/green color palette. I used a circle cardboard (from the box that the kit came in) and distressed it with white acrylic paint and Vintage Photo distress ink. I also did some water distressing on the edges and machine stitched around twice.

I absolutely loved working with these dark brown Prima flowers. In fact, I think I need to order a few more because I used them all up!

Here's a close up of the embellie cluster. I handmade some cream colored Spellbinders roses and added a few Prima buttons to the cluster. Even though it's an outdoorsy layout  I also added some scattered light green pearls around the cluster.

Here's a close up of the fuzzy cut leaves. I LOVE these leaves! I made a few yellow butterflies and added them randomly around the layout for a pop of color.

For the title, I colored the white alphas while still in the package with the green Smooch paint and added them over the skeleton leaves.

Another close up of the cluster. I LOVE this Tim Holtz film! It adds such a  nice touch to the page!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today to check out my layout. Have a great weekend!
