wednesday...Heartfelt Creations July New Release

Welcome everyone! Today is the second Wednesday of the month which means that we have a brand new Heartfelt Creations Release!

The time has come to once again “Celebrate the Season” with Heartfelt Creations! Non-traditional in color, this new holiday themed collection showcases an assortment of exceptional winter hues…shades of teals, pinks, greens and violets resembling the northern lights, whites as crisp as freshly fallen snow and ice blues mimicking frozen ponds beneath the blades of gently gliding ice skates. Four fanciful cling stamp sets filled with old fashioned themed illustrations of ornate sleighs, wooden gates, gifts, skates, mittens, and simple wreaths filled with poinsettias and greenery, along with an assortment of charming sentiments will bring feelings of nostalgia from Christmas past to all of your crafty creations while being paired with the contemporary color palette of Christmas present. Three coordinating sets of dies will have you creating your very own dimensional embellishments perfect for holiday cards, layouts and altered art pieces. Join us as we “Celebrate the Season” and get an early start to all of our holiday themed creating.

I wanted to make a white and blue layout to use with my son's black and white picture from last year's Christmas so I pulled all the blue papers I could find on this new collection! I free handed a large star, machine stitched around its edges and added it to the center of the page. Of course that I distressed the edges of the main background paper and machine stitched around the edges as well.

I made a layered white embossed sleight and tucked in blue and white presents as well as a wreath and some blue mittens.

I used the pointy branches from the Classic Bella Rose PreCut Set with glitter to make it look icy behind the title.

Here's one more look at this layout. It has so many dimensions and textures!

Here is the step by step write-up for this project:
Trim a pattern paper from the Celebrate the Season Paper Collection to 11.5"x11.5" and distress the edges with the Tim Holtz Edge Distressor. Machine stitch this layer unto a white cardstock. Free cut a star measuring 9.5" across. Machine stitch around the edges and place over the center of the page, but do not adhere it yet. Randomly ink the background layer with blue distress ink (Stormy Sky). Adhere the star unto the background. Make random splatters of gesso and also dip a circle (I used the cap from my embossing power) on gesso and randomly make some circle imprints around the page as shown. Put aside and let it dry. Emboss the sleight using white embossing powder on white cardstock twice and die cut them using their coordinating die. Layer one over the other using pop dots to give dimension. Stamp and die cut the small poinsettias and holly on blue pattern paper. Color the holly blue to make them stand out. Stamp the sentiment onto blue pattern paper as well and color the holly here too. Carefully fussy cut around edges. Stamp the mittens, wreath, gifts, leaf vine and a bunch of branches from the Classic Bella Rose PreCut Set on white cardstock. Color using the two different shades of blue and blend them together using Odorless Mineral Spirits. Die cut with their coordinating dies. Add glitter to all of these elements and once they dry, add them to your layout as shown.
