Here are the flowers that we will be making:
Supplies:
- ribbon or fabric (preferably something lightweight)
- thread and needle
- scissors
- button or any center of your choice
- floss to tie a bow (optional)
Step 1. Cut the ribbon to 1.5"x1.5" squares. You will use 5 petals for the small flowers and 7 for the larger one.
Step 2. Fold the square diagonally.
Step 3. Run a simple straight stitch through one of the sides and the through the other side.
Step 4. Pull the thread and gather the ribbon toward the end of the thread like so. You can now start seeing the petals forming. Do the same thing with the other 6 squares all unto the same thread.
Step 5. You will get something like this. Make a quick stitch connecting the first and last petal and cut the thread off.
Step 6. Fluff your flower up to make the petals look better. (just spread them with your fingers)
Step 7. Finish by adding a button with a simple floss bow or whatever embellie you wish to use and you are done!
Now, wasn't that easy? I made 4 in less than 5 mins! I hope you can use this tutorial to make your own flowers. They add such a personal touch to your layouts and cards. I hope you enjoy it and don't forget to drop a link when you do so I can go and check it out!
So pretty!! I will definitely be trying this soon. Can you use any ribbon(like satin ribbon) or does it have to be the kind of material your ribbon was made of? Where did you get your ribbon, btw?? Beautiful work as always!!

thank you for your sweet comment. You can use whatever ribbon or even fabric you have in hand. I have noticed that lightweight ribbons and fabrics are easier to work with and don't bulk up your albums though. I got this ribbon from Birds of a Feather April Kit. It's by May Arts-Silky Crushed Ribbon–Champagne. Hope this answers your questions :)
DeleteOh thank you so very much I had seen some made this way but no instructions. I am in a swap to make 4 flowers and send. I want to make them really fancy. I think I will try making another, a smaller one for the top and then add my button. Ree
