Now, I think it's safe to say that masculine birthday (or any cards for that matter!) are pretty hard! So, I started playing with the masculine stamps/dies that Heartfelt Creations has and came up with this very adorable and definitely masculine birthday card!
I used a wooden background stamp for the card base itself. I made a little red wagon and added boy toys-doggy, horse, and a cowboy hat. I did use some filler leaves as well to bring in more color. For the sentiment, I stamped the sentiment on blue cardstock, colored it with Prismacolors and die cut it. I just love how cute this card turned out!
Here is the step by step write-up for this layout:
Fold and cut in half a 8.5”x11” the Recollections brown
cardstock. Stamp the woodgrain from the Window Accents PreCut Set directly onto
the brown background cardstock with brown archival ink. Lightly distress the
edges with Vintage Photo distress ink and the Tim Holtz Blending tool. Stamp
the birthday sentiment on a light blue cardstock and color in with a brown
Prismacolor pencil and blend with OMS. Die cut the sentiment using the largest Shapeabilities
labels 18 die and emboss it too. With the die still on the cardstock, lightly
ink random areas to distress the cardstock and give it an antique feel. Add a
number 1 Thickers and the letters st to read Happy 1st Birthday. Cut
a 1.5” of red pattern paper, cut a notch at the end, machine stitch it and add
it vertically over the center of the card. Lift the ends up for a bit of
dimension. Add the sentiment over the top area of the base. Stamp with black
ink the wagon from the Days Gone By PreCut Set on red cardstock and fuzzy cut
it. Pop dot it and add over the bottom right corner of the sentiment. Die cut greenery
from the HCD 720 Western Broncos Die and tuck in behind the wagon on the top
side. Color the weeks black with a sharpie. Add small, brown buttons over the
wheels. Stamp, die cut or fuzzy cut the cowboy hat, small horse and puppy.
Color them accordingly with Prismacolor pencils and arrange them on top and
inside the red wagon as shown. Die cut and emboss a tiny star from the Stars
Five Shapeabilities dies and add over the cowboy hat.
